  1. Thanks Stephanie for your perspective. It will be interesting to see Genie’s results at Indian Harbour Beach. I sure hope that this will be helpful for her to get back on track.

  2. So tennisforum.com IS right after all ! Genie going back to ITF’s !?! This is what Agassi did back in ’97/’98 in the Challenger circuit to rebuild his confidence, too. Although he already had 3 Slams at that point in his career. Does she really have the focus, the humility and the open-mindedness to start over again from scratch ? Agassi piled on the wins and the rest is history !

If Genie continues to lose in the ITFs will she discourage quickly and take a leave of tennis ? Or will she persist and fight through adversity and prove all those naysayers wrong. Sure hope it’s the latter. Or will those nagging abdominal injuries cut short her career much like Kournikova’s back injuries cut short the russian’s ?

Either way, I think this is a smart move. She just couldn’t keep on losing in the 1st round in the WTA main draws. Time to build up some ITF wins to build up the confidence.

Hope nobody thinks that my comparing Genie to Andre leads to the presumption of a similar destiny. She will most likely never win a slam – much less 8 GS. Even getting to a slam final seems like 200:1 odds at this point.
