  1. What is the story behind Denis and Felix dropping out of doubles the last two weeks? Given their singles results, doubles may be a good thing to work on stuff.

    • I don’t think there’s a story.
In Monte Carlo, given the schedule, clearly FAA wanted to save his energy and body for a big second-round match – understandably. Shapovalov probably just wanted to leave. Perhaps they would have stayed in, if their first-round match had been scheduled for Sunday, before they played any singles. It probably should have been.

I’m not sure why they signed up in the first place, to be honest. They’ve entered a lot of tournaments (FAA added Lyon the week before the French).
They can work on stuff on the practice court, somewhere away from the bustle of the tournament.

  2. I’ve been watching for Fancy Frank in Italy with his new partner. What happened there?

How did he end up playing with PP in Fla? Trying to get some practice in for the next Davis Cup, in case we need doubles players? 🙂

    • He told me it was a long story. Which it would be, because it’s a Frank the Tank story. But he hasn’t told me the story yet.

      • Happy to see him playing, wherever and whenever, assuming that’s what he wants to do. But the Mergea partnership had potential, I thought.

        • If he didn’t want to do it, he wouldn’t be doing it.
But how can you know that, if you’ve never seen them play together?
All I really know is that Mergea mostly plays deuce side and Dancevic is okay with the ad.
Other than that, you can’t force chemistry or a common game style.

  3. I know this week’s list is not complete, but I haven’t seen Brayden Schnur’s name for quite a while. Is he injured? Tks.
