  1. Noticed new idiosyncrasy of Milos Raonic, following mouthguard and “sleeve.” He’s not carrying an extra ball in his pocket, which I believe is also Rafa’s habit. It was cute to see him still stick his thumb in his pocket occasionally, to make sure the “ball” was secure.

    Really appreciate this website!

      • I wasn’t implying anything racy – just force of habit to ensure the TENNIS ball isn’t in danger of jumping out, which I remember seeing happen to him once…

  2. For the last little while, whenever I see Genie being interviewed, or read articles where she has been interviewed, she keeps saying she needs more matches. So, why isn’t she playing this week? She lost first round in Montreal in singles, so she didn’t get a lot of matches in there. She got to the quarters in doubles with Stephens, does she count that as playing more matches? I realize that playing in Montreal late on Friday would make it just about impossible for her to play the qualifying in Cinci on Saturday, but couldn’t she have gotten direct entry into the Van Open which would have given her a couple of extra days to get there & give her the matches she wants?

    • She was a long way from even getting into the qualifying in Cincinnati, le alone the main draw. So that wasn’t a factor.
As for your question – very valid one.
