WIMBLEDON – Shortly, the juniors will invade the All-England Club (in fact, you can see a fair few around already).
Leading the Canadian contingent will be Blainville, Que.’s Charlotte Robillard-Millette, who is seeded No. 7 in her first Wimbledon.
Also in the girls’ draw is Bianca Andreescu, who will play No. 9 seed Sofia Kenin of the U.S. in the first round.
Robillard-Millette will play highly-touted Aussie junior Naiktha Bains.
The third Canadian, Katherine Sebov, will play American wild card Alicia Black, better known as “Tornado”.
On the boys’ side, lefty Denis Shapovalov, who played the Australian Open but didn’t make the French, qualified and will meet No. 5 seed Seong Chan Hong of Korea in the first round.
Also in the draw is Alejandro Tabilo, who will play Aussie Marc Polmans.
Of the five, only Robillard-Millette is part of the national training centre program in Montreal, although Andreescu has been working with coach Nathalie Tauziat, who has coached Genie Bouchard as well as Aleksandra Wozniak.
