Classic match of the day – Hewitt vs. Baghdatis

It was 2008.

And because of various scenarios that occurred earlier in the day (Janko Tipsarevic taking Roger Federer to five sets, Venus Williams not agreeing to have her match moved to HiSense), local hero Lleyton Hewitt and another fellow popular in Melbourne, Marcos Baghdatis, didn’t get on court in Rod Laver Arena until nearly midnight.

It was close to 4:30 a.m. before they were done. It was more like 6 a.m. before Hewitt was done with his press conference.

This is what Open Court’s eyeballs looked like about 3:30 a.m. – when those not working were still taking advantage of the bar being open.

Stephanie Oz 3-30 a.m

It was great drama.
