Dabrowski wins doubles title in inaugural Mallorca Open

In their eighth tournament this season as a new partnership, Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and Spanish partner Maria José Martínez Sánchez have won their first WTA Tour title.

The No. 4 seeds defeated the unseeded pair of Anna-Lena Friedsam and Laura Siegemund 6-4, 6-2 Sunday to win the Mallorca Open.

It is the third career WTA Tour title for Dabrowski, 24. She won the 2014 WTA tournament in Washington, D.C. with Shuko Aoyama of Japan, and Monterrey in March, 2015 with former longtime partner Alicja Rosolska.

Dabrowski and Martínez Sánchez play doubles the Open Court way – that is to say, they serve and volley, they poach, they play DOUBLES. Everything we believe in. 🙂 From the moment Dabrowski told Open Court she’d begin playing with Martínez Sánchez on a somewhat regular basis beginning in Dubai, we liked the partnership.

Martínez Sánchez also has a little extra cheering section going for them.
