A quirk in the 2015 schedule was rare good news for tennis pros so often deprived of family time during the holidays.
Because the Australian Open is a little later than usual, the entire Australian summer season is pushed back a bit as well.
And that meant that tennis players, and coaches and physios and everyone else connected to the game, actually got to spend the Christmas holiday (if they celebrate) with family, rather than being on a never-ending flight somewhere.
A lot of players took advantage, while still hitting the practice courts every day.
And just a few days later, suddenly, there they were back on the road again – as if they ever really stopped. The off-season in tennis is really the blink of an eye.
