Your taste of Oz – right now!

After a total washout on Monday, the Australian Open wild-card playoff being played at Melbourne Park is getting under way right now.

The forecast isn’t great (currently 20C and windy; 50% chance of rain).

But if the weather in your area is as lousy as it is here at Open Court headquarters, this should warm the heart significantly.

The most intriguing matches are on the women’s side – including a matchup between comeback kids Jelena Dokic vs. Jarmila Gajdosova later on today (Tomorrow? Tonight? A little early Aussie Open time calculation).

Start time is 10 a.m. Tuesday in Oz; 6 p.m. ET here.

You can watch it here.

The four courts they’re using are just down from the new Margaret Court Arena, which has been expanded with a roof added for this year’s event.

For the moment, at least, it’ll definitely be a blight on the landscape there – an eyesore, to say the least.

Hehe. This young lad (think it’s youngster Mark Polmans) is channeling the Ivan Lendl French Foreign Legion hat.

And the sun’s not even out.
