Photos: Happy 18th birthday, Andrey Rublev

He’s touted as one of the stars of the future on the ATP Tour.

Today, he’s legal. And on his 18th birthday, Rublev takes on Mikhail Kukushkin in the night match, on centre court, at the Kremlin Cup in his hometown of Moscow. Couldn’t script it any better.

We have a whole bunch of pics of Rublev from the US Open, where he got through qualifying to make the main draw.

Here are some of his NYC moments. Hope you enjoy.

Rublev defeated Go Soeda and Yuichi Sugita in straight sets, before beating Germany’s Peter Gojowczyk 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 in the final round. Here’s that moment.

The next day, in a rather less intense mood, Rublev shows off a great smile as he hit with some kids on Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day.

A few days later, the future of men’s tennis was on display as Rublev and pal Alexander Zverev took to the practice courts. Maybe some day we’ll look back on these pics of those two skinny kids and say, “Yeah, we called it!”

In his first-round match in the main draw, Rublev tried to play giant killer as he took on 6-foot-8 Kevin Anderson of South Africa, who later in the season would join the top 10 for the first time.

He was competitive. Anderson had lovely things to say about him afterwards.
