The singles didn’t work out. But Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock are still alive in Rome
The Can-American pair defeated Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay and Marcel Granollers of Spain 6-4, 7-6 (4) to reach the Rome doubles semi-finals, where they will face No. 6 seeds Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea.
Cuevas and Granollers aren’t a seeded team, but they’re a very good one. But it was fairly routine overall – except when Pospisil served for the match at 5-4 and was broken. The pair also were up 4-1 in the tiebreak with Pospisil to serve, and lost both those points.
But in the end, they got it done.
And the chain game was strong.
