TORONTO – The Canadians have been providing some of the best matchups at the Tevlin Challenger this week.
After supplying a really high level of tennis in a tough three-set win over fellow Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski in the first round on Monday, Bianca Andreescu returned to Court 1 Wednesday against another compatriot, the much higher-ranked Françoise Abanda (the 19-year-old who was the No. 3 seed in the Tevlin Challenger singles draw).
Here are some clips from the 16-year-old Andreescu’s 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win.
Andreescu has already moved up a tentative 20 spots in the WTA Tour rankings with her efforts so far, standing just outside the top 300. If she can win her quarter-final round against unseeded American Raveena Kingsley, she would be at about No. 290.
