  1. I just checked out the new Rogers’ Cup “Creative Campaign” for the women and there is a brief video of Bouchard, Serena and Kerber. It is my understanding that Madrid and Rome have already given Maria wildcards for their tournaments. I don’t think it is a stretch to realize that the wta and tennis desperately need a healthy and engaged Maria back. I think Rogers/Tennis Canada/Karl Hale as a show of goodwill should immediately extend a wildcard to Maria and advertise this as such, even before they enter negotiations with her agency to bring her here. TSN didn’t even bother showing any of the womens matches from IW… that is pretty pathetic. Miami, in my opinion, is thin on female star-power; even with all the top players there except Serena. With Vika, Maria, Kivitova and a retired Anna all missing, and Kerber and Radwanska struggling, I believe there is thus no better time than now for Toronto to step up to the plate and welcome Maria back.
