  1. Steph, Don’t know if it is my memory, but it seems to me that when Bouchard was playing her best tennis in 2014, she wasn’t going for so much power. She relied on consistency & accuracy to win. It just seems to me that she might have sacrificed that for more power in the last few years.

    • It’s just your memory. She played the exact same way. It’s just that more balls went in.
Her game style requires top-level confidence to execute. Back then, she had plenty of that.
Now that she’s lost it, she can’t execute the game the way she did then.

  2. Thought that Bouchard and Stephens might team up again after their previous success but Stephens is playing with Watson. Is G.B. playing doubles this tournament?

    • No. But she also wasn’t 100% playing the tournament until she got a wild card. Might not have made it through qualifying. Was on the fence for sure.
Also, I’d have to check, but with Bouchard’s low ranking where it is there’s a really good chance they wouldn’t have made the cut, even with 24 teams.
But just because they had a good week in doubles doesn’t mean they’re besties. When they say they don’t really care about doubles, they’re not lying. 🙂
