Yahoo!: Pospisock falls just short of IW two-peat

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – After a narrow escape in the semis, it seemed fate that Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock would take the Indian Wells title for the second consecutive year.

The tennis had other plans. Go to Yahoo!’s Eh Game for all the scoop.

  1. Steph, for players that don’t make the finals, e.g. those eliminated early, do they just stay at Indian Wells for 2 weeks before flying out to Miami?

I can’t imagine players based in Asia, Europe or Australia would fly home then back to US.

Does the tournament cover accommodations until the finals or only until they are eliminated?

    Let’s go Raonic!

    • I doubt they cover accommodations until the finals. They’re not a charity. Different players have different plans but no, obviously, those living afar don’t go all the way home. Actually, the players from Asia and Australia rarely go home at all. Most have bases elsewhere.

  2. Pospisock almost pulled off the repeat. A bit of a downer as I thought they’d win. Then again, I thought that got lucky on the Lopez/Lopez SF match point, so glad they made finals!

Mahut/Herbert winning does hurt Nestor in run for Rio as Mahut/Herbert both pass him. It would have been better for Pospisock to win.

Still, Nestor can make Rio top 10 if he averages a Rd 16 appearance in each of the remaining tournaments.
