Two things stood out during this David Ferrer practice session at the Australian Open Jan. 12.
The first was that new coach Jose Altur appeared to be using a nearly identical, ancient Prince as his charge.
Lots of coaches use the same sticks as their pupils. But not too many match them on the antiques. It was sort of cute. Perhaps it’s a bonding thing.
The second thing?
The PIPES.
Most tennis players have a far more highly-developed racquet arm – even those with two-handed backhands.
These things are SCARY. And they’re equal-opportunity scary.
