The coach-student pairing got a rough draw for their debut at Indian Wells, drawing Wimbledon champs Barty and Dellacqua.
But still, they took it to a supertiebreaker.
Sabine Lisicki and Martina Hingis reprised their partnership in Miami this week, and upset the No. 6 seeded team of Safarova and Hlavackova easily, 6-1, 6-4. And since there’s no TV on the ladies’ dubs, we figure we’d give you a little taste of what they’re all about.
But it’s awfully fun to watch them. If Lisicki were only a little better at it, and Hingis beefed up her serve just a little, they could do some damage.
The doubles field is certainly wide open at this point.
