PARIS – Just Venus Williams, her coach and a VERY tall, handsome hitting partner on Court 1 on Thursday.
This guy’s smile was seriously contagious. And Williams, normally pretty serious out there, cracked a few.
Of course, this is actually the best time at a Grand Slam. Everyone’s happy to be in (insert Slam city here), the sun’s out, and no one has lost yet.
Williams’ only issue was with the state of Court 1, which was mysteriously rather bereft of actual … clay.
She couldn’t slide and, even worse, kept getting a foot caught because it would come to a sudden stop.
No freak practice-court injuries please.
