PARIS – The 2 p.m. scheduled half-hour warmup on Court 15 seemed way ahead of time for Genie Bouchard’s first-round match later on Court Suzanne Lenglen.
But the pace of play on that court has been sprightly enough that you probably don’t have to worry about Bouchard and Kristina Mladenovic running out of daylight.
Bouchard and a hitting partner named Clément went through the regular stuff, sharing the court with American Irina Falconi and Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic.
Here’s what it looked like. (click here if you can’t see it on your mobile).
This time, it was Bouchard who nailed Zakopalova with a backhand return. Which, of course, she apologized for.
Which, of course, Zakopalova smiled and accepted.
If Bouchard and Zakopalova both win their matches today, they would meet in the second round.
