WIMBLEDON – In a preview of this extraordinary match, which was moved to Centre Court from No. 1 Court about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, friends and stablemates Monfils and Simon went at it.
Exactly a week ago, they were on Court 17 – about halfway between Centre and No. 1, right between them, practicing together.
The notion was to get the third-round match done, so that it wouldn’t be suspended and therefore still to play (and it could take awhile) with all of the round-of-16 matches scheduled for Super Monday after the quiet Sunday.
