An upset in the final at the boys’ under-18 national championships.
No. 2 seed Denis Shapovalov easily took care of top seed Félix Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 6-2 in the boys’ final in Mississauga, Ont. Wednesday.
On the girls’ side, No. 1 seed Bianca Andreescu defeated No. 2 Vanessa Wong 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 to take the girls’ title.
In doubles, Andreescu and Isabelle Boulais, seeded No. 2, defeated unseeded Sofiya Babych and Layne Sleeth 6-0, 6-2 to win the girls’ title, while Shapovalov and Alexis Galarneau, seeded No. 2, took the boys’ title 6-3, 6-3 over No. 5 Joshua Peck and Jack Mingjie Lin.
