US Open moment – A failure to communicate

NEW YORK – You know how they always say doubles partners should talk to each other – a lot?

Even at the pro level, it doesn’t always happen.

Early in the second set of their first-round match at the US Open, Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and partner Alicja Rosolska had a little, um, failure to communicate on a rather routine overhead.

As you can see, it got a bit like a game of Twister.

Somehow, they managed to win the point anyway. And at least they could laugh about it.

Later, it wasn’t quite a laughing matter as, after being up a set, the pair went down to the Ukrainian Kichenok sisters in three.
