Flashback – Canadian Fed Cup squad, 2004

A zillion years ago, at a public park in suburban Lachine, Quebec, the Canadian Fed Cup team tried to get into the World Group.

It was the summer of 2004. They played Switzerland – but without Martina Hingis. Instead, the top player was Myriam Casanova, and a young thing called Timea Bacsinszky had JUST turned 15.

Canada lost, although 16-year-old Aleksandra Wozniak did win over Bascinszky (who really hasn’t changed a bit!).

Here are some pics.

(Aleksandra Wozniak, age 16 – she’s playing this weekend against Belarus)
