Nothing’s official yet. But it’s almost certain Wednesday’s women’s doubles quarterfinal match was the Roland Garros swan song for 2010 women’s singles champion Francesca Schiavone.
She didn’t go out a winner.
But she and partner Kirsten Flipkens had a great tournament.
They rolled through their first three matches before bowing out to No. 1 seeds Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova 6-2, 6-4.
Schiavone turns 37 in a few weeks.
She went through this event with a huge smile on her face, and ended it grinning ear-to-ear.
