It is, admittedly, a uniquely 21st-century tennis problem.
Greek teenager Stefanos Tsitsipas, in his first career ATP Tour quarterfinal, found himself shoelace-less in Antwerp Thursday as he faced top seed and home-country favorite David Goffin.
How did he break them?
Sliding on the court. Happens to you all the time, right?
Tsitsipas had a replacement set with him.
Those broke, too.
Luckily, his father/coach Apostolos donated his own to the cause. And Tsitsipas went on to the biggest win of his career, a comeback 2-6, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (4) victory that put him in the semifinals out of the qualifying.
