Nadal Academy plans Florida expansion

The Rafa Nadal Academy, which opened in Nadal’s hometown of Manacor in 2016, is expanding its brand at lightning speed.

Nadal himself launched a new Rafa Nadal Center in Costa Mujeres, Mexico last month, during a trip to Acapulco.

It’s scheduled to open in November.

And this week, the city of Boca Raton published plans to open a Nadal academy with 37 courts on the current site of the Patch Reef Tennis Center in Boca Raton, Fla.

But the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reports the ambitious scale of the plan has met with local opposition.
