As little recognition as Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski has received for being a two-time Grand Slam champion, the Australian and French Open mixed-doubles winner is appreciated at home.
The courts at Russell Boyd Park in the Blossom Park section of Ottawa, Ontario were renamed the “Gabriela Dabrowski Tennis Courts” (Terrains de Tennis Gabriela-Dabrowski – with the extra hyphen – in French).
Dabrowski grew up on those courts and even practiced on then a couple of days before the ceremony, before heading to Vancouver for the big men’s and women’s Challenger.
She’s currently ranked No. 9 in women’s doubles.
