Zimonjic plans return in Sofia

After having bilateral hip replacement last June, Serbian Nenad Zimonjic is planning to return to tournament tennis as soon as next week in Sofia.

This is the “never been done” category.

The 42-year-old Davis Cup captain recruited world No. 3 Mate Pavic as a partner, and has entered the ATP event with a protected ranking. 

Zimonjic, a former No. 1 with three Grand Slam titles on his resumé, went 1-9 in 2018. He won his only match in his last tournament in Munich in May.

They’ll play Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan in the first round.
