Van Cleemput: Not a good fit

Simona Halep has decided Thierry Van Cleemput was not a good coaching fit.

Van Cleemput told RTBE he wanted a training week, and a tournament to make sure.

“I can’t help her; I’m not afraid to say that. She calls the shots on court. If she plays poorly, it’s not my fault. If she plays well, it’s not thanks to me,” he said.

“When you see that, you wonder what use you are. I want to be there to propose options. Neither of us felt that.”

Another issue was coaching communication, with English a second language for both.
