The improvements never stop at Melbourne Park, home of the Australian Open.
The site is a construction zone as the next phase of a $1 billion redevelopment plan kicks into gear.
Included in this phase will be another big show court – 5,000 seats (no roof) to add to Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Arena and Margaret Court Arena.
As well, they’re tearing down the original function center to build a new one, which will include a new media center.
Currently, the media (which used to have a handy spot under Rod Laver Arena), are housed in the main Tennis Australia building.
