As the Wimbledon that wasn’t draws to a close, a few photos of the epic (an overused word, but atp here) 2008 men’s singles final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
It had everything. And in the days before the roof – which would arrive the following year – it had darkness.
Less remembered was the fact that the mixed doubles final was still going on, across the way on No. 1 Court, long after the trophy presentation on Centre Court.
This is what it looked like when Bob Bryan and Samantha Stosur defeated Mike Bryan and Katarina Srebotnik, 7-5, 6-4.
Had it gone to a decider, they’d have had to come back on the Monday to finish it. Somehow, they got it done.
