The vagaries of a “week before a Slam” event means that a very good field with 16 seeds (and Andy Murray, and Nick Kyrgios, and David Goffin and Frances Tiafoe) ends up in the final day with two unseeded players.

But for Ilya Ivashka, 27, and Mikael Ymer, 22, it’s a really big deal.

One of them will leave Winston-Salem with the first title of their ATP Tour career.
