As with the men in Adelaide, the women went more according to form with No. 1 seed Ashleigh Barty and No. 7 Elena Rybakina into the final day.

So did the women in Melbourne – at least in one of the events. Naomi Osaka withdrew from her semifinal match (this is not new for her before a Grand Slam, and it’s … not a great look). But Simona Halep battled through to the final and will face No. 3 seed Veronika Kudermetova.

The other has unseeded Amanda Anisikova vs. qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
