The main draw in Doha gets under way on Sunday, with a 56-player draw that can really use the extra day (but doesn’t get it in Canada and Cincinnati, for example).

The top eight seeds have first-round byes, and may not end up playing until Tuesday. Thus having to go five straight days. Which defeats the purpose. But it is what it is.

There is also a 28-team doubles draw in Doha.
