Open Court

WTA Tour – Saturday, May 7, 2022 final results

It’s one of those joint events that – to take nothing away from the worthy finalists – the men’s star power simply outshines in part because the marquee players have made their way to the business end.

So the women’s final in Madrid, which will come in the evening session shortly after Novak Djokovic takes on Carlos Alcaraz in a blockbuster first men’s semifinal, might well get lost in the traffic.

Even with a 6:30 p.m. start time, they were bumped back two hours because of the length of the Djokovic-Alcaraz match.

But Ons Jabeur and Jessica Pegula put on a very good show, with the Tunisian prevailing in the end.
