Wimbledon ’22 – Day 2 ladies’ final results

WIMBLEDON – The 2019 champion, who didn’t get the honour of opening up Centre Court on the first Tuesday of the next year because Wimbledon was Covid-cancelled, didn’t even get a Centre Court slot.

Simona Halep was on No. 1 Court (which, let’s be real, is a great court, too) in the most competitive of the top matches, against Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic. It was a routine win.

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek got to open, and multi-champion Serena Williams got the later slot as she returns to the game after a year away. There was routine for Swiatek, massive drama for Williams as she goes out in the first round.

Bianca Andreescu got on fairly late, and was efficient in dispatching qualifier Emina Bektas.
