The second slice of the season begins in earnest, as Davis Cup last week is done and the regular Tour resumes for the men.

For the women, a new 500 tournament in Abu Dhabi takes up space, with the tournament in Linz – which was a late fall event for so many years – up to compete with it.

Leylah Fernandez, Rebecca Marino and Bianca Andreescu were in the Abu Dhabi lineup – the first two in qualifying. Both made it to the main draw, but all three lost in the first round.

Genie Bouchard was entered in the $60K ITF in Orlando, but withdraw midway through last week. Her record in ITFs is fairly pressed, although we’re not sure why she withdrew from this one.

Denis Shapovalov has a wild card into the Dallas Open.
