Open Court

MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

ATP – Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023 final results

The top four seeds in Doha – actually, seven of the eight seeds will be in action – finally took the court in Doha.

Notable among them is No. 2 seed Félix Auger-Aliassime, who must turn the page on the disappointment of not defending his title in Rotterdam and look to the task at hand – Australian Open doubles champion Jason Kubler. After a slow start, he got there.

But the spotlight match of the day was struggling No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev (who, despite his injury absence and lack of wins is still in the top 20) against wild card Andy Murray. Murray pulled off another victory from the brink. In fact, all of his victories this season were plucked from the jaws of defeat.

In Rio, there was a lot of rain Tuesday, and so a number of matches were postponed, or cancelled altogether – a couple of them when the favorites were just a game away from winning.

So only two second-round matches are through.

(Doha is eight hours ahead of ET, Marseille six hours ahead, and Rio two hours ahead)
