INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – After waiting for days and finally getting on the court to start the second act of their partnership, Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani picked up right where they left off.
They were just far too solid for the pickup pair of Anna Danilina and Asia Muhammad – who are great individually as doubles players but were teaming up for the first time – and posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
Here’s what it looked like.
Afterwards, Dabrowski spoke of a fork in the road of her life, and the decisions she made during a brief break to take care of business and pivot to the next phase.
The two are clearly opposites but also kindred spirits – one bright and cheery, the other working hard on the positivity and improving that a great deal over the last few years of her career. You can just feel the support they have for each other, and Dabrowski spoke last year of how tough it was to watch her great friend go through the surgery and pain and rehab required to fix her injured knee and get back to work, and only be able to support.
Here’s what they said.
Next up is Cana-Quiwi Erin Routliffe and Chile’s Alexa Guarachi, who also are staging a reunion at this tournament.
They upset the No. 5 seeds Xu Yifan and Yang Xhaoxuan in a match tiebreak in the first round.

Great interview! I’m so happy to see Gabby and Louisa getting back together. Thanks Stephanie for the scoop!
