MIAMI, Fla. – Thursday is going to be busier than expected because, after Sorana Cirstea upset No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka, Mother Nature kicked in.
After a couple of hours of rain, eventually the night session was cancelled.
And so that meant that Petra Kvitova and Ekaterina Alexandrova wouldn’t play until Thursday, while the first semifinal would still go on as scheduled.
The suspended doubles match involving Jessica Pegula won’t be played until Friday, because Pegula has the late-night slot for her singles semifinal.
There is wiggle room, as the women’s doubles final isn’t until Sunday.
