And after Friday’s semifinals, she still was, and a big favorite against lucky loser Sara Sorribes Tormo in Saturday’s final. But the underdog pulled it off.

And in doubles, the Cana-Canada-Kiwi duo of Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe were looking for a spot in the finals, in only their third tournament together. They fell JUST short in losing to Kato and Sutjiadi, who ended up winning the whole thing.
