–
The US Open is done.
But there still is a lot more tennis to play this year as the WTA Tour splinters into a couple more big tournaments in the U.S. and Mexico, even while the Asian swing begins.
On the men’s side, the Davis Cup group stages take up space for the top Canadians (with Félix Auger-Aliassime taking a pass, and Shapovalov showing up, but you would think not in great match shape).
Rebecca Marino hits Asia immediately, playing Osaka (the city, not Naomi). Leylah Fernandez is in San Diego.
And on the ITF circuit, the aspiring Canadian pros get to it – notably in Champaign, Ill. where Liam Draxl was the top seed – and won the tournament.
There was another title in Madrid – at a $25K, in doubles, where Juan Carlos Aguilar took it.
