Open Court

MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

ATP Tour – Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023 final results

Two generations of very cool French dudes – Fils and … Monfils – took the court in Antwerp and Stockholm, to seed ATP titles on Sunday.

In Stockholm, 37-year-old Gaël Monfils continued his comeback from injury and staves off the inevitable passage of time with his 12th title.

In Antwerp, 19-year-old Arthur Fils goes for his second career title, after winning Lyon on clay just before this year’s Roland Garros. He was denied by Alexander Bublik.

And in Antwerp, top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas was denied in singles. But he and brother Petros, who has turned into quite a useful doubles player in his own right, take the title – Petros’s first, in his first career ATP final and Stefanos’s second, after he won in Acapulco last year with Feliciano Lopez.

The younger Tsitsipas’s doubles ranking stands at a career-high No. 81.

(Tokyo is 13 hours ahead of EDT; Stockholm and Antwerp are six hours ahead).
