Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev, who lost their ATP Tour Finals openers, did battle on Wednesday to try to stay alive in the round-robin phase of the competition.

Crazily enough, the two were meeting for the first time. And Alcaraz posted his first career win at the ATP FInals.

In the evening session, it was just the opposite. Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev are meeting for the … 18th time. And the sixth time this season.

Medvedev led the head-to-head 10-7; he had won four of their five meetings so far this year.

Make that 11-7, and five of the six meetings this year.
