MELBOURNE, Australia – Canadians Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe were going for their second consecutive Grand Slam women’s doubles final, with Jelena Ostapenko and Lyudmyla Kichenok on the other side of the net happily denying them that opportunity in the end.

And quad wheelchair athlete Robert Shaw was aiming at a doubles final, only to be denied by the eventual champions.

The two men’s semifinals and also the mixed doubles final were also on this Friday sked, with the iconic Hsieh Su-Wei winning her first major mixed title.
