MIAMI – Some of the players who won Saturday in rain-delayed matches have to get right back out on Sunday and rev it up again.

That included Canadian Leylah Fernandez, who displayed a fair bit of angst in her straight-set win over Emiliana Arango.

But she faced a more imposing customer Sunday in No. 5 seed Jessica Pegula. And as well as she played at times, she couldn’t get it done.

One to watch was a rematch of Osaka v Garcia, to see where Osaka’s progress has gone in the last two months, since Australia.

The answer? Hard to tell. She played well at times, but her attitude was up and down. And Garcia seems to like what she gets from the former major champion.
