Four seeds remained in Palermo – including the top two, both wild cards.

A final between No. 1 Zheng Qinwen and No. 2 Karolina Muchova – both Olympics bound, would be the best outcome for this steamy week in Sicily.

In Budapest, the only seed remaining was No. 1 Diana Shnaider. The others, combined, don’t have huge experience going deep into WTA tournaments.

So whomever gets the least nervous, and seizes the opportunity with both hands, will end up still alive on the weekend.
