And that meant Ben Shelton, making his entrée in the late evening match, was the one who got the short stick for the late finish.

First up, though, was Denis Shapovalov. The Canadian posted two routine victories in the first two rounds and took on No. 12 seed Miomir Kecmanovic for a spot in the quarterfinals of this 48-player draw. And he made it.
