The men’s singles semis were delayed by rain – in one case about 2h45, and the other more than 3 1/2 hours.

No. 2 seed Ben Shelton looked to have the easier route to the final, with a match against No. 10 seed Flavio Cobolli. Not, it turns out.

The other had No. 4 seed Sebastian Korda against No. 5 seed Frances Tiafoe. Korda’s win was an upset that wasn’t an upsets.

Both finished around midnight, though. Not ideal but a long way from the worst-case scenario.
