On this day of Rafael Nadal’s retirement announcement, we’re flashing back to some of the moments we’ve captured through his career.

This slideshow is all about Roland Garros – Nadal’s back yard, his casa, where he cemented his status as an icon.

It’s hard to fathom that anyone will ever come close to topping the Mallorcan’s 14 career titles in Paris.

Here he is – right up to this year, when he got a tough, tough draw and also practiced with another former champion who may well have played there for the last time, Stan Wawrinka.
