The BJK Cup and Davis Cup finals are (sort of) overlapping in Malága, Spain this week.

The women are playing in a smaller, pop-up arena, while the men are in the much larger, permanent arena. Plus ça change … But the Canadian women were one and done. And then, so were the men.

There are WTA 125s and Challengers some of the Canadian women and men could play – notably, in the case of Rebecca Marino, an opportunity to play to squeeze into the main draw in Melbourne.

Unfortunately for her – fortunate for Canada – she sped to Spain from Midland, straight from the biggest title of her career there in top form. But it was a sacrifice. And in the end, for naught.

There are a lot of Canadians in Santo Domingo, a very popular place for the Canucks on the ITF circuit when there are events there.

And there’s a crew of the junior girls in Antalya, on the clay.

In the end, a host of players made finals, with a doubles title in Puerto Vallarta won by Liam Draxl and Ben Sigouin.
